The influence of chemical composition on
malleable steel includes the influence on obtaining vermicular graphite and matrix, which in turn affect the mechanical properties and other properties of vermicular graphite cast iron. The chemical composition of malleable steel should be selected according to these influences.
(1)In the production of carbon, silicon and carbon equivalent vermicular graphite cast iron, the composition near eutectic is generally used to improve the casting performance and reduce the tendency of white mouth.
(2)Manganese plays an important role in stabilizing pearlite in malleable steel, but its role is greatly reduced due to more vermicular graphite branches. The mechanical properties of mixed malleable steel can be obtained by adjusting manganese content
(3)P had no effect on the creep, but p eutectic formation in the matrix was greatly reduced mechanical strength and impact toughness produce shrinkage and cold cracking in castings
(4)Sulfur has a strong affinity with vermicularizing agent alloy and consumes a lot of vermicularizing agent, which not only increases material consumption and production cost, but also influences the fluidity of molten iron and accelerates the vermicularizing decline.
(5)The alloying elements are mainly used to adjust the ferritic content in the matrix of malleable steel to improve the range of vermicularizing agent and the mechanical properties.
